| Just watching the horrible news about the tragic bombings in the UK.. Is everyone on the message board okay? These terrible attacks are obviously the result of Blair poodling along with Bush in his war for Israel in Iraq... It is utterly tragic when an overwhelming majority of the British public were against the war and Bush's poodle (Blair) still went along with the Iraq invasion for Lord Levy and company... Incredible.. My heartfelt condolences are with the people of Britain..

Hospital officials say more than 300 people have been treated for injuries at London hospitals after six explosions rocked the city.
Most reports estimated that at least 50 people were killed when three explosions tore through London's Underground subway system and three buses exploded in central London nearly simultaneously Thursday morning.
The three train explosions were at the Aldgate, Edgware Road and King's Cross stations in north London. The bus blasts were on Old Street in the financial district, and Russell Square and Tavestock Square in central London, near the British Museum.
Prime Minister Tony Blair said Thursday that it was "reasonably clear" that terrorists were behind the explosions and called the attacks "barbaric."
A visibly shaken Blair said there were deaths and injuries, but gave no casualty figures. "It is reasonably clear that there has been a series of terrorist attacks in London," Blair said. "There are obviously casualties, both people that have died and people that are seriously injured."
Blair declared that the attacks were clearly timed to coincide with the opening of the G-8 summit in Scotland, but said the gathering would continue despite his temporary absence.
Remnants of an explosive material were found at at least two of the sites so far, police said. The Metropolitan Police Chief said he was not aware of any warnings prior to the attacks, Sky News reported.
A group calling itself "Secret Organization - al-Qaida in Europe" posted a claim of responsibility on a Web site popular with Islamic terrorists, the German magazine Der Spiegel reported. Police said that so far two people were confirmed killed in the explosion at Aldgate Station, AP reported.

There were no Jewish casualties reported so far in the mass terror attack which rocked London Thursday, spokesman for the Board of Deputies in London said.
So far, no Israelis have been identified among the victims, according to the Foreign Ministry.
"We're making an effort to find Israelis, to see if there were any Israelis among the victims," said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mark Regev. "We don't have any specific information about Israelis who were among the victims."
"This is an international tragedy," he said.

The Israeli embassy in central London was blocked off by the British army. Israeli ambassador to London, Tzvi Heifetz, said the embassy was under a state of emergency, with no one allowed to enter or leave, AP reported. Heifetz told Israel Radio that a major terrorist attack in London was "just a matter of time."
Israeli embassies all over the world have gone on high alert.
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said that, contrary to reports, Israel was not warned about possible terror attacks in London prior to the attack.
A Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, had said earlier that British police warned the Israeli embassy in London of possible terror attacks minutes before the first explosion.
"There was no early information about terrorist attacks," Shalom told Army Radio. "After the first explosion an order was given that no one move until things become clear."
British military troops were dispatched to the scene of the blasts and were involved in emergency rescue operations in the Covent Garden area.
A doctor from the hospital nearest Edgware Station said that the hospital received its first emergency calls around 9:20 am.
The doctor said that the ER had treated four victims who arrived in critical condition, including some who had lost limbs. Eight were in serious condition and suffered from head injuries, lacerations and smoke inhalation. Fourteen were treated for non-life threatening wounds.
Home Secretary Charles Clarke told AP that there had been "terrible injuries."

Laura Matthews, a press officer at Universities UK, with offices in Tavistock Square, described the scene to The Guardian, saying there were bodies lying around the bus explosion, some without arms or legs.
Underground union officials were quoted as saying that at least one explosive device had been found on the subway rails.
Metronet, a company which maintains the subway infrastructure, said the entire system was being shut down. London's other public transport was in service as usual.
Bradley Anderson, a Tube passenger, told Sky News that "there was some kind of explosion or something" as his train reached the Edgware Road station in northeast London.
"Everything went black and we collided into some kind of oncoming train," Anderson said.
One witness, Darren Hall, said some passengers emerging from an evacuated subway station had soot and blood on their faces. He told BBC TV that he was evacuated along with others near the major King's Cross station and only afterward heard a blast.
The London Times spoke to Sarah Reid, who was on the carriage next door to the one which was struck by the explosion at Aldgate.
"I think some people may have died," Reid said. "I was on the train and there was a fire outside the carriage window and then there was a sudden jolt which shook us forward. The explosion was behind me. Some people took charge. We went out of the back of the carriage."
Reid said the explosion happened at 8:50 am but she was not able to get off the carriage until 9:30 am. Describing being led away from the scene, she said: "A carriage was split in two, all jagged, and without a roof, just open. I saw bodies, I think."

British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.
Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned to attend an economic conference in a hotel over the subway stop where one of the blasts occurred, and the warning prompted him to stay in his hotel room instead, government officials said.
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said he wasn't aware of any Israeli casualties.
Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks, the official said. He did not say whether British police made any link to the economic conference.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the nature of his position.
The Israeli Embassy was in a state of emergency after the explosions in London, with no one allowed to enter or leave, said the Israeli ambassador to London, Zvi Hefet.
All phone lines to the embassy were down, said Danny Biran, an Israeli Foreign Ministry official.
The ministry set up a situation room to deal with hundreds of phone calls from concerned relatives. Thousands of Israelis are living in London or visiting the city at this time, Biran said.
Amir Gilad, a Netanyahu aide, told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's entourage was receiving updates all morning from British security officials, and "we have also asked to change our plans."

The warning contradicts the fact that the original explanation of a power surge went out for an hour or more. They knew it was an attack but put out a false explanation. Plus why did Netanyahu get a warning and the victims didn't?
We have been told that the events unfolding today were "inevitable", London's transport network has been hit with multiple explosions. Both the Underground and Buses have been hit. Events are still unfolding.
We predicted this would happen over a year ago after analyzing the propaganda and fearmongering that was being ratcheted up to the extreme in London. Paul Joseph Watson has predicted these events as imminent several times on The Alex Jones Show in recent months.
Tony Blair is not in London but safely tucked up in Scotland with 7 other World Leaders including President Bush. The political eyes of the world are on Britain this week. The Mayor of London Ken Livingstone is in Singapore where the IOC has just awarded the Olympic Games to London, he is rushing back to the city.
Just like the events of 9/11, ask yourself, who stands to gain from this? Could this have been organized by any group other than one who has direct unlimited access to all areas of London's transport grid at all times?
The similarities with the Madrid bombing of 3/11/04, which we have persistently highlighted as an inside intelligence operation, are stark with bombs on separate trains set off within minutes of each other as the trains neared the stations. The so called perpetrators were quickly linked to an "Al Qaeda" cell in Europe but later as we reported were linked to the Spanish Security service. They then mysteriously Killed themselves as this information was seeping out. It then became apparent that Spain's government was using the bombings for its own gains and many went to the streets in Spain to declare they knew that their own government was behind the attacks. Further Intelligence was withheld by the government, we expect the same will happen in Britain after today's attacks.
This has MI5 written all over it. Just watch that national ID card legislation sail through. Only 15% of the country supported the government after the last election, this will ensure total fealty to a smarmy Blair and whatever he wants to do. Ken Livingstone and the opposition parties will now have no grounds to reject ID card legislation, especially with the Olympics coming to London in 2012.
The police state measures they'll get out of this will be overlaid onto all forms of transport. In fact, you won't be able to travel without the ID card. Although MI5 operations are normally more sophisticated than things like 9/11, in that the evidence linking it to the government is more carefully covered, just watch for the evidence of inside involvement to trickle out. MI5 have been caught involved in IRA bombings multiple times over.
Alex has said over and over that as attacks on different sections of the transportation grid occur they are going to have police state setup in the areas. Now it will be on the buses, subways etc.

British Commando Units Seal off Israeli Embassy in London in Wake of Attacks as US Congressman Suspected of being Israeli Spy Is Detained While Attempting to Flee to Israel

Russian Intelligence reports circulating in the aftermath of a series of bombings in Britain’s Capital City of London are showing that Elite Commando Units of the British Army have sealed off and may have entered into the Israeli Embassy in London in an attempt to detain the Israeli Security Attachment assigned to former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who is currently in the British Capital, and as we can read as reported by the Associated Press News Service in their article titled "Netanyahu Changed Plans Due to Warning" and which says;
"British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said. Israeli Government Sources have since denied that they had received any prior warnings, and as we can read as reported by the Associated Press News Service in their article titled “Israel denies 'early information' about attacks" and which says, "A Foreign Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, had said earlier that British police warned the Israeli Embassy in London of possible terror attacks minutes before the first explosion. “There was no early information about terrorist attacks,” Shalom told Israel Army Radio later. “After the first explosion an order was given that no one move until things become clear."
Whatever to which version of this warning is the truth, the similarities to the events surrounding the terrorists attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, and where claims were also made that Israeli citizens in the United States received prior warnings to those attacks (and which Israel has repeatedly denied) are important to notice say these Russian Intelligence reports.
Of the terrorist attacks in London we can read as reported by the Times of London in their article titled “Rush hour blasts bring terror to heart of London" and which says, "More than 33 people were killed today when London was hit by an al-Qaeda-style series of bomb blasts targeting rush-hour commuters in Tube trains and on a double-decker bus. The death toll was given this afternoon by Britain Paddick, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, who said: "This clearly was a callous attack on purely innocent members of the public deliberately designed to kill and injure innocent members of the public." Mr Paddick said four blasts hit London shortly before 9 am."
Russian Intelligence reports are showing that prior to these blasts an ‘unusual’ amount of telephonic activity took place between the Israeli Embassy in London and the United States, and that in the hours just prior to these London attacks a number of high ranking American Government Officials began preparations to flee to Israel.
The highest ranking member of these American Officials attempting to flee to Israel is reported to be a United States Congressman and former pilot for both the United States and Israeli Air Forces named Randy "Duke" Cunningham, and who in the United States crackdown of the massive Israeli spying operation in America was recently raided by the American Counter-Terrorist Forces, and as we can read as reported by the Copley News Service in their article titled "Agents raid Cunningham home, MZM office, yacht" and which says;
"In a dramatic sign of a fast-moving, bicoastal investigation, federal agents searched the Rancho Santa Fe home of Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham yesterday, along with the Washington office of a defense contractor linked to the Republican congressman and the yacht where Cunningham had lived."
"The federal task force that conducted the coordinated, surprise raids on opposite coasts included agents from the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego, the FBI, the Internal Revenue Service and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, said Debbie Weierman, an FBI spokeswoman in Washington. "The operation is part of an ongoing investigation," she said. It has been known for at least two weeks that the FBI and a federal grand jury in San Diego are investigating Cunningham's ties to Mitchell Wade, founder of MZM Inc."
Of the much secretive MZM Inc. not very much is known other than the speculation that their vast world-wide resources and location in the United States has provided much secret information to the Israeli government, and as some have speculated is in fact the ‘Central Hub’ for Israeli spying in the United States. From their website MZM Inc. says this about themselves;
“Since its founding in 1993, MZM, Inc. has been solving enigmatic problems for an ever wider range of government and private sector entities. Today, its special capabilities in providing creative and innovative solutions in a rapidly changing environment have been recognized as "state of the art" by clients both domestically and abroad. Our traditional strengths in the areas of intelligence collection and analysis, where application of the most recently developed technologies are brought to bear, are enhanced by expanding capabilities in the national security and policy planning fields and enabled by a highly motivated and experienced staff.”
But to a perhaps much truer version of this secret company, and its Israeli National Leader named Mitchell Wade, we can read as reported by the American Free Press News Service in their article titled "Eaten alive by corruption" and which says;
"The stirring tale of Randy "Duke" Cunningham, congressman and bon vivant, becomes more entertaining by the day, and it is far more instructive than another case of a missing white female. Cunningham was a decorated pilot in Vietnam who has oft campaigned on the claim that he is the original model for Top Gun. In 2003, he sold his house in Del Mar, a very upscale town north of San Diego. The buyer was Mitchell Wade, a defense contractor, who paid $1.675 million. Wade later resold the house at a $700,000 loss.
Now, either this makes Wade the only person in recent history to lose money on a San Diego real estate deal, or the guy paid way too much for the house. The deal is now under investigation by a grand jury. Cunningham in turn used the money he made from the Del Mar deal to buy a $2.55 million home in Rancho Santa Fe.
Meanwhile, back in Washington, Cunningham is living, rent-free, aboard a 42-foot yacht named the Duke Stir, which belongs to the said same Mitchell Wade. Since 2002, Wade's company, MZM Inc., has received $163 million in defense contracts. There the case stood until this week, when we learned from Copley News Service and The Washington Post that the boat-loving Cunningham was living on the Duke Stir only because he had sold his own boat, the Kelly C, a 65-foot flat-bottom riverboat, to Thomas Kontogiannis, a New York real estate developer.
Follow this closely: Kontogiannis buys the boat from Cunningham in the summer of 2002. In 2003, a mortgage company owned by Kontogiannis' nephew and daughter finances $1.1 million of the price of Cunnigham's new home in Rancho Santa Fe. Also, Kontogiannis never gets around to putting the Kelly C in his own name, so the Coast Guard still thinks it's owned by Cunningham. What a misunderstanding. My favorite quote, so far: Kontogiannis, when asked if he was doing Cunningham a favor by keeping the boat in his name while Kontogiannis paid $100,000 to redecorate it, said: "Why would I do that? I don't need the man." The pragmatic approach.
Kontogiannis does admit that he was looking for a pardon for his unfortunate 2003 conviction on kickback and bribery charges in connection with a bid-rigging scheme for New York City school computers. He said Cunningham steered him to a Washington law firm for this purpose, but it was "too Cunningham is very big on patriotism and the no-flag-burning amendment. Meantime, MZM is working on classified intelligence projects for the government. The company's literature says it helps the government with "enigmatic problems."
Of this US Congressman’s devotion to Israel there is no doubt, and as we can read from a speech he made to the United States Congress titled "A Vision of Peace in the Middle East, Remarks by Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham" and wherein he stated;
"Madam Speaker, my intent is to bring something different, something refreshing to a Special Order. As I listened to my colleagues on the other side, you would think that the White House and Republicans are mean-spirited, evil, and do not really care about the American public. I think it would be refreshing to listen to a Special Order that actually projects a vision. I wish it was my vision, Madam Speaker, but there are many great men that have tried to work on this, and the good news is that it is achievable. Now, tonight I only have 20 minutes left to speak. On Monday night, I will have a full hour, and I will expand. But, history has witnessed great men with a vision accomplishing some very difficult tasks, and that vision is a safe and secure Israel.
First, I want to tell why I think it is possible. This is coming from a pilot that flew in Vietnam and also flew in Israel in the 1970s. It comes from a Member of Congress that is a strong supporter of Israel but yet sees the possibility of Palestine living side-by-side with Israel and peace in the Middle East."
Russian Intelligence Analysts are also suggesting that US Congressman Cunningham’s main reason for attempting to flee to Israel could be his connection with the events we had mentioned in our June 19th report titled "United States Air Force Put on Highest Alert Level After Israeli F-16s Attempt To Invade US Airspace in ‘Bombing Run’ Towards West Coast and Mid-West Regions of America", and wherein we had said;
“Russian Intelligence Analysts are reporting today of the intercept of a bizarre intercept showing that the United States put its Northern Region Combat Air Force Units on their highest alert level yesterday after an attempt by 4 Israeli F-16 Combat Aircraft to penetrate US Airspace.
Israeli Combat Aircraft are currently stationed in Canada taking part in an exercise called ‘Maple Leaf’, and as we can read as reported by the Israeli Haaretz News Service in their article titled “Israel participating in aerial drill in Canada" and which says, “For the first time, the Israel Air Force is participating in a six-week international combat exercise in Canada. Israeli F-16 planes, a Boeing 707 airborne tanker and 150 air and ground crew personnel are taking part in the annual Maple Flag exercise held at Canadian air force base 4, Wing Cold Lake Air Weapons Range, in Alberta. The CLAWR covers 11,600 square kilometers and is the only tactical bombing range in Canada.”
The Canadian Air Force further describes this annual exercise as: "Exercise MAPLE FLAG is a six-week international air combat exercise held annually at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta. The exercise, which will be taking place from May 15 to June 24 2005, provides Canadian and allied aircrew with realistic training in a modern simulated air combat environment, and emphasizes air operations involving large package coalition forces."
Prior to the arrival of these Israeli F-16 combat aircraft in Canada the United States had refused permission for their over flight of any United States areas with the speculation being that the reason behind this decision was due to Israel having converted their American built F-16’s to the carrying of Nuclear Weapons, and as we can read as reported by the Center For Defense Information in their report titled “Current World Nuclear Arsenals” and which states;
"Despite refusals to comment on the issue by the Israeli government, the Israelis clearly have a sizeable nuclear arsenal. There are two interesting loopholes in Israel's oft-repeated pledge never to be the first to introduce nuclear weapons into the region: The U.S. "introduced" weapons in the region in the 1950's when nuclear bombs were stored at Dharan, Saudi Arabia and at sea in the Mediterranean Sixth Fleet. Also, it is believed that Israel might not keep her nuclear weapons fully assembled -- keeping them "a screw away" from completion. The highly capable and well-equipped Israeli air force would more than suffice in the nuclear weapons delivery role, particularly with U.S.-supplied aircraft such as the F-4E and F-16."
This US Congressman’s unique knowledge of both United States and Israeli Air Force procedures and codes, along with his apparent criminal association with the secretive MZM, Inc. make him a very likely suspect to these events say Russian Intelligence Analysts in their reports.
To the safety of those American Government Officials reaching Israel however, it goes without mentioning that once in that country they will never be extradited to face their crimes. Not even to the worst examples of War Criminals will the Israelis let go, and as we can read as reported by the German Expatica News Service in their article titled "Israel refuses to extradite alleged war criminal" and which says;
"Israel has refused a Polish request for the extradition of Solomon Morel, 87, alleged to have committed crimes against humanity as the head of a labour camp holding ethnic Germans in Poland's southern Silesian region immediately after World War II, Poland's Rzeczpospolita daily reported Wednesday. Poland made its second request to Israel for the Israeli citizens extradition on a charge of genocide in April 2004, after an earlier request was refused in 1998."
To the final outcome of these present events however we don’t know, other than that it is just another in a series of escalating events leading us all towards total Global War, but one that which the Western peoples still refuse to see.

It is easy to notice that the Anglo/American war in the Middle East is justified no matter what the actual realities. It has been justified on the grounds that the US must fight the Islamic terrorists in Iraq in order to prevent attacks on the West. An actual attack on the West, however, is used to justify a more intensive war in the Middle East. Of course, the attack on Iraq initially was sold as a cake-walk but the actual intense resistance there has been used to prove the existence of terrorist hatred of America and the West that must be fought.
Of course, critics of the war from the very outset pointed out that the attack on Iraq would generate greater hostility to the West and those Arab governments friendly to the West. As Robert Fisk wrote in May 2002, "There is a firestorm coming. And we are blissfully ignoring its arrival; indeed, we are provoking it." http://www.counterpunch.org/fisk0527.html The firestorm is becoming reality, and is simply used by the war crowd to justify more war--which will provoke more terrorism, ad infinitum.
All of this fits the Likudnik strategy to destabilize the Arab/Islamic Middle East. It does nothing to help America or Britain but instead gives them serious problems that they could easily have avoided by a policy of non-intervention.

Blair waxes Churchillian in call for unity, defiance of terrorists

LONDON (AP) - For British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the high of winning the 2012 Olympics was followed by the devastating low of deadly bombings in the heart of London.
He rose to the occasion Thursday, delivering an almost Churchillian appeal for unity and vowing to defeat terrorism and root out the perpetrators.
In a solemn rallying cry, Blair said it was "a very sad day for the British people but we will hold true to the British way of life."
While those who set off the explosions "act in the name of Islam," he said, "we also know that the vast and overwhelming majority of Muslims here and abroad are decent and law-abiding people who abhor those who do this every bit as much as we do."
Blair was hosting a summit of G8 leaders in Scotland when the attacks struck, killing close to 40 people on three subway trains and a bus. He rushed back to London and after meeting with ministers and officials, delivered a televised address from 10 Downing Street.
"It is through terrorism that the people that have committed these terrible acts express their values and it is right at this moment that we demonstrate ours," said a sombre Blair.
Blair has long shown a sure rhetorical touch in times of crisis. When Diana, Princess of Wales. was killed in a car wreck in 1997, the newly elected Blair delivered a memorable speech dubbing her the "people's princess."
Hours after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, Blair promised Britain would "stand shoulder to shoulder with our American friends in this hour of tragedy and we, like them, will not rest until this evil is driven from our world."
Blair has a talent for bouncing back from adversity. Just two months ago, he had appeared a spent political force after British voters returned him to office for a third term but with a sharply reduced majority.
But the chance to host the G8 summit and his recent assumption of the rotating EU presidency as the bloc struggles for a direction appear to have reinvigorated him. And Blair's poised performance on Thursday once again proved he is a leader who thrives in times of crisis.
In his address, Blair harkened back to the "Blitz spirit" that saw Londoners through the dark days of Nazi bombing during the Second World War - and, by association, to wartime prime minister Winston Churchill, whose determined, moving speeches helped steel the resolve of Britain and the Empire.
"There will, of course, now be the most intense police and security service action to make sure that we bring those responsible to justice," Blair said.
"I would also pay tribute to the stoicism and resilience of the people of London who have responded in a way typical of them."
Blair promised "the most intense police and security service action to make sure that we bring those responsible to justice."
He said Britain would show "by our spirit and dignity" that "our values will long outlast theirs (terrorists)".
"The purpose of terrorism is just that. It is to terrorize people and we will not be terrorized."
Text of British prime minister's statement on attacks in London
British Prime Minister Tony Blair issued a pair of statements Thursday after explosions in the London transit system caused deaths and injuries; the first was an initial account of what happened, the second issued with other G8 leaders at their summit in Gleneagles, Scotland.
Blair's first statement:
I'm just going to make a short statement to you on the terrible events that have happened in London earlier today. And I hope you understand that at the present time we're still trying to establish what has happened. There's a limit to what information I can give you. And I'll simply try and tell you the information as best I can at the moment.
It's reasonably clear there have been a series of terrorist attacks in London. There are, obviously, casualties, both people that have died and people seriously injured. And our thoughts and prayers, of course, are with the victims and their families.
It's my intention to leave the G8 within the next couple of hours and go down to London and get a report face to face with the police and the emergency services and the ministers that have been dealing with this, and then to return later this evening.
It is the will of all the leaders at the G8, however, that the meeting should continue in my absence, that we should continue to discuss the issues that we were going to discuss and reach the conclusions which we were going to reach.
Each of the countries around that table has some experience of the effects of terrorism. And all the leaders, as they will indicate a little bit later, share our complete resolution to defeat this terrorism.
It's particularly barbaric that this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa and the long-term problems of climate change in the environment.
Just as it is reasonably clear that this is a terrorist attack, or a series of terrorist attacks, it's also reasonably clear that it is designed and aimed to coincide with the opening of the G8.
There will be time to talk later about this.
It's important, however, that those engaged in terrorism realize that our determination to defend our values and our way of life is greater than their determination to cause death and destruction to innocent people in a desire to impose extremism on the world.
Whatever they do, it is our determination that they will never succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and in other civilized nations throughout the world.

Blair's G8 statement:
We condemn utterly these barbaric attacks. We send our profound condolences to the victims and their families.
All of our countries have suffered from the impact of terrorism. Those responsible have no respect for human life. We are united in our resolve to confront and defeat this terrorism that is not an attack on one nation but on all nations and on civilized people everywhere.
We will not allow violence to change our societies or our values, nor will we allow it to stop the work of this summit. We will continue our deliberations in the interests of a better world.
Here at this summit, the world's leaders are striving to combat world poverty and save and improve human life. The perpetrators of today's attacks are intent on destroying human life.
The terrorists will not succeed. Today's bombings will not weaken in any way our resolve to uphold the most deeply held principles of our societies and to defeat those who would impose their fanaticism and extremism on all of us.
We shall prevail and they shall not.

Rules of conflict for a world war

The multiple, simultaneous explosions that took place today on the London transportation system were the work of perpetrators who had an operational capacity of considerable scope. They have come a long way since the two attacks of the year 1998 against the American embassies in Nairobi and Dar-Es-Salaam, and the aircraft actions of September 11, 2001.
There was careful planning, intelligence gathering, and a sophisticated choice of timing as well as near-perfect execution. We are faced with a deadly and determined adversary who will stop at nothing and will persevere as long as he exists as a fighting terrorist force.
One historical irony: I doubt whether the planners knew that one of the target areas, that in Russell Square, was within a stone's throw of a building that served as the first headquarters of the World Zionist Organization that preceded the State of Israel.
It was at 77 Great Russell Street that Dr. Chaim Weizmann, a renowned chemist, presided over the effort that culminated in the issuing of the Balfour Declaration, the first international recognition of the right of the Jewish people to a national home in what was then still a part of the Ottoman Empire.
We are in the throes of a world war, raging over the entire globe and characterized by the absence of lines of conflict and an easily identifiable enemy. There are sometimes long pauses between one attack and another, consequently creating the wrong impression that the battle is all over, or at least in the process of being won.
Generally speaking, the populations at large are not involved in the conflict, and by and large play the role of bystanders. But once in a while, these innocents are caught up in the maelstrom and suffer the most cruel and wicked of punishments meted out by those who are not bound by any rules of conduct or any norms of structured society. For a while, too short a while, we are engrossed with the sheer horror of what we see and hear, but, with the passage of time, our memories fade and we return to our daily lives, forgetting that the war is still raging out there and more strikes are sure to follow.
It cannot be said that seven years after this war broke out in east Africa, we can see its conclusion. We are in for the long haul and we must brace ourselves for more that will follow. The 'Great Wars' of the 20th century lasted less than this war has already lasted, and the end is nowhere in sight.
There will be supreme tests of leadership in this unique situation and people will have to trust the wisdom and good judgment of those chosen to govern them. The executives must be empowered to act resolutely and to take every measure necessary to protect the citizens of their country and to carry the combat into whatever territory the perpetrators and their temporal and spiritual leaders are inhabiting.
The rules of combat must be rapidly adjusted to cater to the necessities of this new and unprecedented situation, and international law must be rewritten in such a way as to permit civilization to defend itself. Anything short of this invites disaster and must not be allowed to happen.
The aim of the enemy is not to defeat western civilization but to destroy its sources of power and existence, and to render it a relic of the past. It does not seek a territorial victory or a regime change; it wants to turn western civilization into history and will stop at nothing less than that.
It will show no mercy or compassion and no appreciation for these noble values when practiced by us. This does not mean that we can or should assume the norms of our adversaries, nor that we should act indiscriminately. It does mean that the only way to ensure our safety and security will be to obtain the destruction, the complete destruction, of the enemy.
MUCH HAS been said in recent years about the vital need for international cooperation. There is no doubt that this is essential. Yet no measure of this will suffice and it cannot replace the requirement that each and every country effectively declare itself at war with international Islamist terror and recruit the public to involve itself actively in the battle, under the direction of the legal powers that be.
In the past, governments have been expected to provide security to their citizens. The responsibility is still there, in principle. But in practice, no government today can provide an effective 'suit of protection' for the ordinary citizen. There can be no protection for every bus, every train, every street, every square. In these times the ordinary citizen must be vigilant and must make his personal contribution to the war effort. Private enterprise will have to supplement the national effort in many walks of life.
The measures that I have outlined above will not be easily adopted
overnight. When the US entered World War Two, Congress approved the momentous decision by a majority of one vote. Profound cultural changes will have to come about and the democratic way of life will be hard-pressed to produce solutions that will enable the executive branch to perform its duties and, at the same time, to preserve the basic tenets of our democratic way of life. It will not be easy, but it will be essential not to lose sight of every one of these necessities.
This war is already one of the longest in modern times; as things appear now, it is destined to be part of our daily lives for many years to come, until the enemy is eliminated, as it surely will be.

Terrorism's indispensable allies
Once again, horror and nonsense, an incongruous
combination we might be inured to by now if it were
possible to get used to horror. The London bombings were
the horror; the usual nonsense was immediately served up
by President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The perpetrators will be "brought to justice,"
et cetera. Fat chance, even assuming they are still
alive. What would "justice" be for such crimes, and what
would it achieve? The two rulers also reaffirmed Western
determination, et cetera. Isn't that what we've already
shown in Iraq? Has the war, with all the additional
measures taken at home, deterred terrorism? Or has it
just inspired more determination on the other side?
We can't really know. Maybe the answer is both:
maybe some acts of terrorism have been prevented and
discouraged, but others have merely been provoked. But
the response of Bush and Blair implies a sweeping
certainty nobody can have. When there is a lull in
terrorism, it shows that the war is succeeding; when it
erupts again, that shows the need to continue the war.
What would it take to convince these men that their
policy is failing?
Karl Rove, "Bush's brain," recently said that the
liberal response to the 9/11 attacks was not to wage war,
but to offer "therapy." That was too silly to be really
slanderous (it was less poisonous than Bill Clinton's
blaming the Oklahoma City bombings on right-wing talk
radio), but it illustrates the administration's penchant
for loose talk. Anything but tough talk, however vacuous,
is wimpy.
Tough talk may be great for Republican fundraising,
but whether it scares fanatics is another matter. Be that
as it may, four years of tough talk, two unfinished wars
against ill-defined enemies, and the toppling and capture
of Saddam Hussein seem to have left us about where we
started. The rhetoric of Bush and Blair leaves a
frustrating sense of monotony and of their inability to
adapt their approach to meet reality.
The original reason given for war with Iraq was that
Saddam posed a threat to the West, even an imminent
threat. Blair warned his country that Saddam might be
able to deliver his fearsome weapons to England within
45 minutes. That propaganda, exposed as empty, has had to
be abandoned, but the murderous policy it sold the public
goes on anyway. We are still being "protected" against a
threat that never was.
What about terrorism? Its purpose, obviously, is to
terrorize. The London bombings this week killed fewer
than 50 people out of five million in the city, a horror,
yes, but a militarily insignificant number. During World
War II German bombers killed more than that daily -- yet
never came close to conquering the Sceptered Isle.
Hitler's purpose too was to terrorize, in the hope
of inducing the British to yield. Winston Churchill
retorted that the British would fight on the beaches and
in the streets rather than surrender; but a German
invasion was never feasible. Both sides were bluffing.
How, then, are a few terrorists going to conquer
England now? How could they win, and just what would they
win if they won? Would they install their own prime
minister in place of Blair? And how would they conquer a
much bigger country across the Atlantic?
Terrorism isn't a threat; it's an unnerving
nuisance. Most of the panic it causes is due to news
media coverage, rather than to the material human harm it
does. In our time it's easy to mistake a dreadful local
incident for a general threat -- or even an attack on
civilization itself, as Blair, playing Churchill, calls
the latest bombings.
We should never think about terrorism without
considering the role played by media amplification. "You
give me the pictures, and I'll give you the war," the
publisher William Randolph Hearst is supposed to have
said. That was even before the coming of radio. Today he
might have said, "You give me the runaway bride, and I'll
give you a worldwide sensation."
Terrorism, in order to have full effect, requires
three elements: terrorists, politicians, and electronic
media. We need to think of it in conjunction with its
indispensable allies. What if they gave a bombing, and
nobody covered it?

Note Added: Just watching the horrible news about the tragic bombings

overwhelming majority of the British public were against the war and
Bush's poodle
(Blair) still went along with the Iraq invasion for Lord Levy and
company...

Who's Kidding Whom?
The Myth of the Innocent Civilian
About a third of those victims who were killed today (July 7, 2005)
will not
be missed, in my way of thinking they were part of the problem. If the
dead
are a reflection of how the living and uncaring Brit concerns himself
about the
Middle East, then maybe the typical uncaring Brit deserves the same
fate.
A good portion of those killed today thought that the Muslim world
hates the
Brits because of their freedoms. That the Arabs are a hateful people.
That the
Palestinians are in the wrong.
And that Israel is right.
Many of the dead, when they were alive spoke in the same vernacular as
their
loved ones do today.
"Who gives a fuck about the Palestinians."
"We should just let Israel drop atomic bombs on the whole region and
kill
them all."
"There're just sandniggers, who cares about them."
"God gave the land to the Jews. The bible says so."
"There're just a bunch of terrorists."
"We should send weapons to Israel, look at what happened to them with
the
holocaust."
"If we can't trust them, why should Israel?"
Former Congressman Findley writes about America:
"Nine-eleven would not have occurred if the U.S. government had refused
to
help Israel humiliate and destroy Palestinian society. Few express this
conclusion publicly, but many believe it is the truth. I believe the
catastrophe could
have been prevented if any U.S. president during the past 35 years had
had
the courage and wisdom to suspend all U.S. aid until Israel withdrew
from the
Arab land seized in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war."
Do the British really care?
I think if the typical Brit does not make an attempt to understand the
damage
their weapons have inflicted on the Arabs by proxy with Israel and the
continuous dishonest one-sided Tony Blair foreign policy in the region,
then maybe
the Brits deserve more of what we got on Sept. 11, 2001.
Former Congressman Findley continues:
"In its violent assaults on Palestinians, Israel uses the pretext of
eradicating terrorism, but its forces are actually engaged advancing
the territorial
expansion just cited. Under the guise of anti-terrorism, Israeli forces
treat
Palestinians worse than cattle. With due process nowhere to be found,
hundreds
are detained for long periods and most are tortured. Some are
assassinated.
Homes, orchards, and business places are destroyed. Entire cities are
kept under
intermittent curfew, some confinements lasting for weeks. Injured or
ill
Palestinians needing emergency medical care are routinely held at
checkpoints for
an hour or more. Many children are undernourished. The West Bank and
Gaza have
become giant concentration camps. None of this could have occurred
without
U.S. support. Perhaps Israeli officials believe life will become so
unbearable
that most Palestinians will eventually leave their ancestral homes."
The British arrogance, the British callousness is there! Just as it is
in
America!
The typical, now dead Brit today lived his life knowing these facts and
not
caring about it. The arrogance and the callousness was part of his
everyday
being. Was his life worth living, if he didn't care how the British
government
was using his tax money to hurt people? to destroy the livelihoods of
an entire
region? to allow British bombs to be used in a criminal way when
dropped by
Israel?
My contention is most of those killed today were aware of this.
I think to myself, when is Tony Blair and the Brits going to stop the
culture
of lies. And then my inner thoughts hear the callousness of too many of
the
dead. When they were alive before today scream--"So what? Who cares?
Bomb them
all."
So what?
The myth of the innocent civilian. Who's kidding whom? Today should be
a
reminder that if more Britains have an early death, it is because of
the end
result of not caring.
You must remember that your fellow brits voting in a non-ethical
politician
makes them all into active shareholders in a criminal company.
