I am e-mailing you to give you an update on our recent activities and to ask for your support so that we can complete our Capitol Hill public hearings on the Middle East in Election 2004, which have received wide dissemination through C-SPAN and the print media. We also need your help to combat new insinuations put forward by AIPAC.
This all-powerful pro-Israel lobby in Washington is on the run in the aftermath of CNIF's full-page September 1st ad in the Washington Times.
They are angry because CNIF had the courage to print the truth about Israel, a truth that neither Israel nor our own government wants the American people to know. In turn, AIPAC accuses CNIF of trying to convince policymakers that AIPAC "is doing something wrong."
Their over-reaction certainly implies that they may indeed be doing something wrong -- shall we call it for what it is? -- engaging in espionage and the acquisition of highly classified drafts of policy directives -- in order to influence American policy toward Iran.
AIPAC doesn't like it that we published facts about the history of Israeli spying on the US dating back to the early 1950s, nor do they like it that we demanded Israel be held accountable for the Apartheid Wall and Jewish settlements as violations of international law -- egregious attempts to control the Palestinian people and deny them permanent access to land, groves, and their traditional heritage.
Documentation and facts scare AIPAC. It proclaims us as the "foe of Israel" whose goal is to "undermine" its relations with the U.S. And typically when anyone criticizes Israel, AIPAC and other pro-Israel organizations throw in accusations of anti-Semitism in an attempt to discredit the facts or divert attention away from them.
Meanwhile, the FBI investigation of Larry Franklin, the Defense Department official accused of passing on a classified document to AIPAC who then may have passed it to on the government of Israel, seems to be progressing. See the details of our latest poll on whether or not, in light of this investigation, AIPAC should register as an agent of a foreign government.
Since last being in touch, stakes have risen -- AIPAC is not only using our ad as a weapon to attack us in the media, they are using it as a vehicle to raise thousands of dollars from their members. They are going to make a lot of money by twisting the facts and lying. CNIF must fight back.
The American people deserve to understand why, in the war on terror, Israel plays a pivotal role. They need to understand that until policymakers change our policy towards Israel and until there is a Palestinian state and equality for Palestinians, the war on terror is a losing battle.
Numerous world leaders during the opening session of the UN, including our ally in the war on terror, President Musharraf of Pakistan, and the President of Brazil made the point that the Palestinian issue must be resolved if there is any real success on the war on terror.
We need your contributions of $100, $500 and $1,000 and more immediately to keep our message before the American people. You can be sure that AIPAC will be pulling out all the stops to protect their image and to present Israel as the victim when, in fact, Israel is the aggressor.
