RATHER BIASED? Rather ridiculous for the media to make such a big deal about THIS minor league mis-step on a story which is still 99% CORRECT anyway, and which ABSOLUTELY should have been reported on, FLAWS AND ALL --- what was the alternative? Just forget about it? --- both in 2000 and this time too & UNTIL we get the full story WE DESERVE TO HAVE about this entirely PUBLIC and GOVERNMENTAL matter involving a controversial and unmandated president who has plunged us into an illegal, undeclared war in violation of international law and abridged our civil liberties, and which may well be 100% CORRECT if the letter actually is authentic, even if that can NEVER be definitively verified one way or the other.
RATHER RIDICULOUS TO SCAPEGOAT AND THEN TO CRUCIFY A RESPECTED & NOW ELDERLY COLLEAGUE, AND THEN TO GIVE THEMSELVES A "PASS" ON THEIR ROUTINE, DELIBERATE AND WIDESPREAD "YEAR IN, YEAR OUT" CRIMINAL MIS- REPORTING, UNDER REPORTING AND NON REPORTING OF THE STORY OF THE RAPE OF PALESTINE AND THE ASSOCIATED COMPROMISE OF OUR NATIONAL SECURITY INTEREST CONTINUOUSLY OVER THE PRECEDING NEARLY SIXTY YEARS !
It is particularly galling to witness this obsessive "over coverage" of this tempest in a teapot when one considers the other far more important stories ( see below ), and the substantive aspects of this very story itself being obscured by this ginned up pseudo-controversy, stories which are NOT being covered in consequence of the coverage being given this one: and even more galling to the extent that this story has been given "Laci Peterson" priority precisely so that coverage of the real, hard and impactful stories about Iraq, and even moreso Israel, can be avoided. An example not involving either Monica Lewinski, or Chandra Levy: Elizabeth Smart's disappearance in Salt Lake City was reported 24/7 ad nauseum and for weeks circa June of 2002 rather than showing the horrific scenes of Waffen IDF stormtrooper violence a la the Nazi crushing of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in exploding Jenin ! Viagara anyone. Shame on you.
It is simply ludicrous to do all of this breastbeating about the trivial Jayson Blair "embarrassments", and even more preposterous to fire Howell Raines and the other gentleman over that when the Judith Miller "All the News that's Fit to Slant regulars" are doing 50 times as much damage spinning the bogus fairytales powerful Zionist sponsors like to read and hear, and needed to foment a war against the latest threatening Haman of the hour and for which they are being praised, promoted and lionized.
Compared to the other whorehouse piano players he works with, Gentleman Dan Rather is an ethical giant. The idea that he has any biases more serious than being too "fifties", too square and too middle class is laughable. Liberal? Get real. Try traditional. Like every one of his "Anchorate" colleagues --- Jennings, Brokaw, Lehrer, Woodruff and especially 41 Buddy Mr. Unafraid Cool at Faux --- his weakness is that he is way TOO respectful of the scoundrels we end up "electing/selecting" via the lesser of two evils sweepstakes. The one seeming exception in Rather's career, and one of my heroes otherwise, Richard Nixon, was forever trying to pick fights with Dan, not the other way around !! Perhaps he recognised a soul mate, a younger version of himself: scrappy, ambitious, passionate. At least that's the way it looked at the time. And I remember.
Leave this good hardworking man alone on the run up to his Halloween birthday --- #73 --- and thereafter during his final decade or so with CBS, okay? If you need to have someone "to kick around" on this story, let it be the guy who is so contemptuously stonewalling ALL OF US on the simple facts, apparently with your uncomplaining approval now that there is no Dan Rather or Sam Donaldson over on the White House crew to put some steel in your spine in terms of asking the tough and impolite questions. Stand up to George W. Bush, President Awol, and keep asking him the people's questions until he answers them like a proper, respectful public official would have already and without the hectoring that is apparently going to be needed. The problem is George Bush, not Dan Rather.
RATHER than focussing so much on Rather, or whoever this cocky little bully decides to put a hit on next, why not VOLUNTARILY take a hard look at the bigger picture, the "wide shot" as Dan likes to say in his corny redemptive way. Take a look at the TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE job you ALL have done --- and that includes Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite and the other plaster saints Rather worships and who in reality couldn't carry his boots --- in giving US, whose children and grandchildren do the dying and the wanton killing in these nightmares, the SIMPLE HONEST TRUTH we need, and always have needed concerning our DISASTROUS Middle Eastern foreign policy which has finally led us into this Criminal War of Aggression, and the role which domestic administrative malfeasance, spying and decades of open but scandalous political corruption by the Israel Lobby have played in that, etc., etc., etc.
You have just six weeks to make up for six decades of brainwashing our gullible, good natured body politic, and it "ain't gwine" to be easy undoing the master mindfogging job you and your generational predecessors, including Rather, have done on a trusting audience who, even now that it once again is coming at the cost of their beloved children's broken bodies and precious lives sacrificed in an evil and unnecessary war of choice, are NOT aware that they have been deceived SO thoroughly, SO professionally, and SOOO unconscienably.
They are NOT aware that theirs is a controlled, propagandistic media, far worse than that of the old Madison Avenueless Soviet Union precisely because it is so "good" and persuasive; and therefore they are all the more vulnerable to betrayal by those they have liked, loved even, and trusted..... SIX WEEKS until an election that could determine the character of the entire century to come, and for ALL of the people on this little planet, nearly all of us "Palestinians", disenfranchised and powerless in our own lands, the pawns of alien overlords.
And you want to take us off on all of these side trips, and up these blind alleys? Don't we have bigger fish to fry, and oh so little time?
Six weeks. You're going to need every minute, every woman, and every man. Especially Dan Rather, Mister Tiffany, the Dean of all you No Goods. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick....

U.S. Behind Rising Wave Of Global Terrorism: Boutros-Ghali
CAIRO (IslamOnline.net) - Former UN secretary general Boutros Boutros-Ghali held the U.S. administration accountable for rising wave of terrorism, saying Washington’s unilateral approach has fuelled civil wars across the world.
Boutros-Ghali also asked American President George W. Bush to order his forces out of Iraq and to allow Arab countries mediate a peaceful settlement to the crisis gripping the war-scarred country.
Currently holding the presidency of Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), Boutros-Ghali blamed the U.S. policies for the breakout of many conflicts everywhere in Africa, Latin America and Asia. “The U.S. adopts a unilateral approach in handling international conflicts, without taking into account viewpoints of other world countries that have different mechanisms to settle them.” He said the Middle East long-standing conflict makes a case in point. “Washington has turned down attempts by the European Union to mediate a settlement to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, at the same time it also supports Israel’s right-wing parties.” Boutros-Ghali believes such a U.S. unilateral approach causes to complicate the situation in the Middle East and “plays into the hands of terrorists to gain more ground in the Arab and Islamic countries.”
The former Egyptian diplomat was elected to the top post of the UN in 1992 - but the U.S. vetoed an extension of his term to 2001 despite approval of many other member states of the world organization. Violence begets blood
The 82-year-old Boutros-Ghali called on the Bush administration to withhold its staunch support for the ruling Israeli Likud party in order to help establish peace in the region. “Violence begets violence. This is exactly the situation in the occupied territories as only one side has warplanes and tanks, a fact naturally leading the other side to try to possess a weapon to use in its defense.”
The ex-UN secretary general expected the deteriorating situation in the region to continue as long as the U.S. kept siding with Israel. “The situation will keep move worse till the world system is turned into bipolar for allowing to better run the world affairs.”
He warned that Palestinians have made up a “ticking population bomb”, as the number will rise up remarkably to make Jews in Palestine a 40 percent minority. --------Arabs have ‘Iraq clue’
The former UN chief said the Arab countries are the one and only party having capacity to settle the Iraq crisis.
“The Arabs have the clue about resolving the crisis in Iraq.” “The Iraqi crisis would not be solved by foreign parties. The task must be left for an Arab mediator approved by all Iraqi parties for helping draw up a better and democratic future for Iraq as was the case with the Lebanese civil war,” Ghali said.
Boutros-Ghali, the former Secretary General of La Francophonie, called on the U.S. administration to pull out forces from Iraq for putting an end to the bloodshed in the war-torn country. “The mistake of the U.S. administration is that it only adopted force to achieve its goals and sought the help of inexperienced experts to do this - something which has led to the ongoing tragic situation in the Arab country.”
The former veteran Egyptian diplomat said the U.S. administration has admitted that it has made a grave mistake when it had launched an offensive on Iraq.
He said Washington now searches for a way for its troops to pack up and leave the Iraq as Iraqis and peoples of the region could not accept the fact that the oil-rich country is under the occupation of foreign forces.
Boutros-Ghali was the sixth secretary general of the United Nations on 1 January 1992 and served for a five-year term.
At the time of his appointment by the UN General Assembly on 3 December 1991, Ghali was Egypt's deputy prime minister for foreign affairs.
He further had a role in negotiating the Camp David accords between Egypt and Israel, signed in 1979.
Current UN chief Kofi Annan has also said that the U.S. invasion of Iraq was illegal.
In an interview Wednesday broadcast on BBC, Annan said the U.S. decision to invade Iraq in March 2003 was "illegal" because the United States and its allies had not sought a UN Security Council resolution to specifically authorize it.
