There's been a shocking racial incident in Northern Ireland, where 22 Romanian families have had to be removed to a sanctuary for their own safety.

This follows five days of persistent and violent attacks on their homes by hooligans.

At an anti-racist rally in support of the families a few days ago, the thugs threw bricks and made Nazi salutes, chanting slogans associated with a hard line, far-right faction calling itself Combat 18.

Beyond the suffering of the families themselves there is the troubling aspect of how the Northern Ireland police service seems to have been unable to deal adequately with the crisis.

Every time they were called, there was a delay - in one instance it was 90 minutes and in an another instance it was half an hour and this after 999 calls which made it very plain that a large gang of thugs were breaking down doors and attacking individuals.

I've just conducted an interview with Assistant Chief Constable Alistair Finlay.

I put it to him that the Northern Ireland police service appears not to have learned the lessons from Stephen Lawrence's murder and the ensuing Macpherson recommendations.

He says they have. But the unfolding account of events surrounding the attacks in the Lisburn Road, South Belfast speak otherwise.

Yeh... Irish travellers that had been thrown off their lands in Ireland used to be treated like that in the rest of Britain at one time. Along with Jews, the poor and homeless of all types... then came the West Indians who had fought with British troops during the second world war and then treated like shit. So it goes on... and lowlifes even celebrate this kind of thuggery and ignorance. Sad really.

It was Nick Griffin's friends Combat 18... I suppose the N. Irish constabulary were busy with their doughnuts and coffee while this was kicking off. Racists are a minority in Britain, who knows, they might end up getting some of their own medicine... then you will hear them whining like a bunch of old ladies... Like Nick Griffin after his egg breakfast... ha ha

While I deeply sympathize with the plight /distress/fears of children and on no account defend the criminal acts by a few Belfast hoodlums, there are faults on BOTH SIDES.
I've met abt half dozen Romanians who seem to have easily adapted to life here in England.- Well educated and anxious to improve their lives.

But I understand that there are another ethnic group , the ROMA ( who have different values) they have a gypsie life style ) street-wise. crafty and prefer criminal activities and parasitic spongeing - taking undue liberties with our social welfare benefits system .
i.e. a recent case exposed was claiming child benefits for four non-existent children , another claiming child benefits for children returned to Romania living with Grand-parents. Pick-pocketing on London Underground(Subway) to name but a few of the reasons why people get annoyed/angry with ROMA gypsies.

Nevertheless , those who break the law by attacking the misfits , shall no doubt be justly prosecuted.

The Chinese are another can of worms... remember the Chinese cockle pickers... slave labour run by the TRIADS! The majority of Chinese in Britain are well under control... it is not 'Social Harmony' but rather SOCIAL OPPRESSION that we are talking about.
