| Hang on! What am I doing here? What exactly am I apologizing for? Just because the leader, who incidently is no leader at all not having been elected to that status, expresses her displeasure, why should I jump to attention. Ridiculous really. OK I shouldn't try to discourage or demoralize my fellow protestors/marchers but I have as much right as the next man to express my opinions. All that the 'leader' has got going for her is a mobile phone and a big voice. That's not enough to whip me into line or is it?
My problem is not with the rank and file of the voice of protest. No way. Good luck to them I say. My concern is with one individual who got drunk, got pissed off coz I inadvertently stopped the party a bit earlier than she preferred, and then tried to take it out on me by kicking me out of the tent. A tent incidentally which did not belong to her but which she regarded herself as the sole custodian of. A tent which I had shared with the good 'leader' on several previous nights.
So was I right to dig my heals in and refuse to quit said tent, actually a tepee. I think so. I had my own matress in my own secluded position well away from the lair of the 'leader'. I was intent on minding my own business. I had got the fire going. Previously I had collected lots of fire wood, had secured the wind breaks, did all the washing up, I was more than an invited guest. I had good title to a nights rest. But that is not the way the leader saw it.
Oh no. She saw fit to call in her friends the Gloucestershire Constabulary. On what grounds you may ask. Well she said I was only a platonic friend, a lie, that I had assaulted her, another lie, that I was drunk, an exaggeration at the very least. She failed to mention that she was drunk, that she had assaulted me, that in fact I had done nothing wrong apart from deny her another free jar of Scrumpy Jack. The accusation that I had denied her the opportunity to liase with the local community was a trumped up charge.
So this is the state of the leadership of the Fairford protest. Someone who calls in the police on one of her friends and gets them locked up for the night with a court appearance a couple of weeks later. Is this the kind of leader to be trusted? Whatever happened to freedom of speech on this board? Is it now the case that emotional blackmail rules this forum everytime somebody posts something that others don't like to hear? There's me thinking that this board championed free speech - or is it only meant to be used as a propaganda forum for certain politically acceptable "causes" and any dissent from the ranks is not to be allowed? Is this a lovers tiff? Words like not platonic, I have not seen them used since Princess Anne and Mark Phillips.

Ah well missed it then. I take it they were about the airbase, just looking at the flow of this thread there seems to be big gaps in dates, I suppose other have been taken down in the past.

Of course, silly me. We must all keep to the thread, whatever the cost to truth and freedom of speech. Emotional blackmail allowed as long as "the cause" is an honorable one and dissent and disagreement must be quashed at all costs. Truth? Freedom of speech? Nah, these are not important as long as "the cause" reigns supreme.
