| I suppose Tony Blair's opinion counts for something. I guess the Queen and the Chairman of BP carry a fair bit of weight. But what about you? If you don't agree with the way our politicians are running things you can always 'Contact your MP.' That ought to be effective. Or you can write to the press - just make sure there's a sex or money angle to your enquiry beforehand. You can 'vote' at the next election too. In reality an individual has very little influence these days and this is both a good thing and a bad thing. A true democracy speaks of majority rule and that's the good part, in the main. The bad part is we don't have a true democracy - we have an oligarchy underpinned by a media created democracy where the minority call the shots and then confront us with the 'tough choices' they have had to make. So how can we make our voices louder? Petitions get a bad press but they often produce better results than the efforts of even the most dedicated individuals. That's what Concerned Citizens' Central (CCC) is all about. UK at War (UaW) has a mailing list running five hundred names long and containing all the major politicians and leaders within the business community. Whenever a subject arises that sees our politicians behaving in a manner contrary to public opinion we will contact the top 100 most suitable names from this ever growing list and ask them to explain their actions. UaW want you to add your voice. If you have an issue that you would like to bring to the attention of the political and corporate elitists who run the country for their own benefit please post it here. Post the final letter you want to send if you like and we'll make sure it goes to all the right places - and keeps going, week after week after week until a reply is received. All responses will be posted as will an index detailing the people who refuse to reply and the duration of their silence. Do any of our American users want to supply a mailing list so we can start covering your nation too? _________________ Contact help@itszone.co.uk if you require support or wish to draw attention to any illegal messages or activity taking place in any of the forums. | Do any of our American users want to supply a mailing list so we can start covering your nation too? Let me bring this up at the anti-war conference on Saturday, and see if someone already has a list compiled that we can use. If not, I'll see if i can get some help in getting one together. | | | | msteffan1 | | Posted: Fri May 31, 2002 3:47 pm Post subject: |

| M, I was told by my Congressman's aide that they do not read emails. He said that the volume of emails they receive every day would necessitate hire an entire extra staff to deal with them. It's a bit misleading that they provide these email addresses when some of them, (well, mine, anyway)don't actually read them. He instructed me to send a fax if I had something important that I needed addressed. I was told that my Congressman had agreed to meet with me, and I faxed his office my schedule and contact info. Last week, they contacted my office after hours on Thursday, and left me a voicemail stating that I had an appointment at 5:10 the next evening. I don't work in the office on Fridays, which I told them in the fax, and consequently didn't get the message til Monday, missing my appointment. I am trying to reschedule, and was told Monday that they would try to fit me in Friday (today). I tried to reach the scheduler when I had not heard from them as of yesterday, and they told me he wasn't available, biy would call me back. He didn't. I've just about given up on actually getting the meeting, at this point. I'm going to attempt now, to contact Reps. Barbara Lee & Cynthia Mc Kinney to see if they'll help me. | | | | | ©2002-2009 WarWithoutEnd.co.uk |
