| | As I understand the current Israeli proposal it is to withdraw from Gaza but keep control of the airspace, the sea space and the border with Egypt. | Ben Gurion in 1956 already was against Israel getting Gaza Strip, he not at all wanted reponsibility for the, in his estimate, 250.000 to 300.000 refugees.
From 1956 until 1967 UN troops kept peace in the Strip, and it was administrated by Egypt.
During the whole period not one attack on Israel was executed from the Strip.
In the 1967 war, contrary to Israeli cabinet orders, the IDF did occupy Gaza Strip.

| There is one misunderstanding, Jews liked ghetto's.
In Spain, prior to their expulsion around 1500, many Jews lived in Jewish communities., without being forced to do so.
