Even for a simpleton like cowscnut it should be fairly easy to understand.

Oil is cheaper than it has been for quite a while.

Gas (petrol) is rising.

Oil is the raw material for gas.

Therefore the price of the refined product should also fall.

Except in the UK of course where fuel duty has been rising still higher.

Oil is just one of the numerous price components of gasoline, and oil and gas inventories do not always move in the same direction for many different reasons.

Regardless... Oil prices have dropped about in half from their peak, and so have gasoline prices.
