Newsweek's Jon Meacham was on the PBS Charlie Rose program tonight and conveyed that Obama has basically given Netanyahu the go ahead to attack Iran as Meachem also conveyed that Obama mentioned that he would not rule out anything with regard to using military force against Iran for the security of America (for the security of Israel rather being the AIPAC toady that Obama is!):

Friends,

Netanyahu Also Hyped the Iraqi Nuclear Threat

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently in Washington hyping the alleged Iranian nuclear threat. It should be recalled that he was hyping the danger of Saddams alleged nuclear threat during the build-up for the United States attack on Iraq. Is there any reason to think that the Iranian nuclear threat is any more real than the fictitious Iraqi one?

The following is an excerpt from my bookThe Transparent Cabal: The Neoconservative Agenda, War in the Middle East, and the National Interest of Israel

Excerpt from Stephen J. Sniegoski, The Transparent Cabal, p. 171.

Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also trumpeting the

necessity of war. In September, 2002, the Wall Street Journal published a

piece by Netanyahu entitled The Case for Toppling Saddam, in which

he held that This is a dictator who is rapidly expanding his arsenal of

biological and chemical weapons, who has used these weapons of mass

destruction against his subjects and his neighbors, and who is feverishly

trying to acquire nuclear weapons. Netanyahu waved the red flag of Saddams

purported nuclear threat. Two decades ago it was possible to thwart

Saddams nuclear ambitions by bombing a single installation, Netanyahu

exclaimed.

Today nothing less than dismantling his regime will do. For Saddams nuclear

program has changed. He no longer needs one large reactor to produce the

deadly material necessary for atomic bombs. He can produce it in centrifuges

the size of washing machines that can be hidden throughout the country and

Iraq is a very big country. Even free and unfettered inspections will not uncover

these portable manufacturing sites of mass death.98

Netanyahus focus was Iraqs alleged nuclear threat. [T]he imperative is

to defang the Iraqi regime by preventing its acquisition of atomic weapons,

Netanyahu solemnly declared in October 2002. No inspectors will be able

to do that job.99 In fact, as early as April 2002, Netanyahu was briefing U.S.

senators as to the nuclear danger of Saddam Hussein. According to columnist

Robert Novak, Netanyahu warned that Saddam not only is acquiring

nuclear weapons but may have the means of delivering them against the

United States via satchels carried by terrorists.100

As Barton Gellman describes in his book, Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency, Dick Cheney used the mini-nuke claim to persuade war-skeptic Dick Armey of the need for an attack on Iraq. As the influential House Majority Leader, Armeys support was crucial for getting Congressional support for the war. Armeys opposition would have provided cover for many less-than-courageous Democrats and Republicans to oppose the de-facto war measure.

Gellman does not say that this intelligence information came from Israel, but perhaps it did
