US will find excuse to attack Iraq, former UN official says
The former UN humanitarian chief for Iraq says he is convinced the US will go to war even if inspectors find no evidence of weapons of mass destruction.
Quoted in a Portuguese newspaper, Denis Halliday said he believed the US "will find some excuse to attack Iraq, independently of the results of the UN inspections".
He added that US President George W Bush wants "to control Iraqi oil because he is worried that control of Saudi oil is in some way slipping away from him".
